Houston, TX (May 16, 2016) Round Four of MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 took place in Danville, VA (Virginia International Raceway) this past weekend. Following double victories at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Aprilia HSBK Racing took to the front of the pack in Virginia for another victory in Superstock Race 1, maintaining the series lead on the RSV4 RF as MotoAmerica heads to Road America for the fifth round.
Like many of the US tracks, rider Claudio Corti had limited knowledge coming into Virginia. With a wet first practice Corti was able to learn the track, but would have to wait for the track to dry out to get the bike set-up for race pace. Practice 2 and 3 allowed the HSBK Racing team to make necessary adjustments, good enough to move directly into Superpole 2 where Corti was able to secure the sixth spot overall, and second among Superstock 1000.
During the Sunday warmup, Corti displayed the pace he had in New Jersey, fastest of the Superstock riders. This held through Race 1, where after 25 laps Corti and the RSV4 RF crossed the finish line first in Superstock.
A few hours later Race 2 began with the same promise, with Corti delivering competitive lap times. Ultimately, mechanical issues hindered the potential double victory repeat, with Corti remaining in the points but falling to 7th position.
The team is very happy with the Race 1 victory and the points collected, which keeps Corti and Aprilia HSBK Racing on top of the Superstock 1000 Championship as they travel to Wisconsin for the fifth round. Team owner, Bobby Shek, noted, “The team did an incredible job this weekend. We are performing like a well-oiled machine and working hard to keep the winning momentum going.”
